Bayview Station Police Officers Matt Cloud and Steve Gritsch have been described as "absolutely genuine heroes" by their Chief, Greg Suhr. Last week, the officers raced a 30 minute old baby that had stopped breathing to SF General Hospital, with Cloud at the wheel and Gritsch performing CPR on the newborn.

The officers had responded to a call to Third Street and McKinnon Avenue where they found a man holding a bloody baby wrapped in a jacket, according to Chief Suhr.

The baby boy is alive and well, due to the quick thinking of Cloud and Gritsch who, along with others at the Bayview Station, are now gathering Christmas gifts for the boy.
