Affordable Care Act explored

Angelique Tompkins introduces a panel of experts
"There's LOTS of great information here," Lydia Vincent told Footprints as she signed in as a participant in the Affordable Care Act Education Day at the Bayview YMCA on Saturday, August 24th.

"It's important to get the word out about all the changes," said Cynthia Kennedy, Statewide Projects and Outreach Manager for California Black Health Network. "People in Bayview are at risk of losing their health insurance coverage if they don't know their options."

Bayview resident Angelique Tompkins, volunteering with SF Chapter of The Links Incorporated, the group that organized the event, introduced a panel presentation on "Outreach and Enrollment" that was facilitated by Sherrie Gordon (AARP). The panelists were Merrill Buice (SF Community Clinic Consortium), Alice Benjamin (AARP), Emily Riggs (Healthy SF), and Darryl Burton (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services).

The event took place in the Bayview YMCA's new conference center. The modern conference center is part of renovations to the YMCA building on Lane Street between Quesada and Revere Avenues that have been underway for some time. The conference center boasts a shiny new institutional kitchen and modern audio-visual equipment.
