Bayview leaders gathered on Thursday evening at a new retail space on 3rd Street called "MARKET on THIRD."

Local business owners Linda Blacketter and Dan Dodt celebrated their refurbished storefront and "under-one-roof" retail concept with Supervisor Malia Cohen and other neighborhood leaders.

The sounds of Bayview jazz musician Garrett Kobsef wafted onto the street as food prepared by Bayview chef Oscar James was served up.

MARKET on THIRD features windows that open completely to the street, and retail kiosk spaces in a shared environment that provide an affordable alternative to leasing commercial space as a sole tenant.

A group of residents have hosted their second "Third Thursday" social event.

"We just want to have fun with our neighbors," said organizer Anietie Ekanem.

The event was held at the Corner Cafe at 5800 3rd Street, and featured music by Lani Groove.
