Quesada Gardens Initiative and service-learning students from University of San Francisco's McCarthy Center were featured in a recent video that the university produced as part of presenting its California Prize to the San Francisco Giants.
Community building and education in the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood have gone hand-in-hand for years as students and educators apply classroom learning to practical experiences in the community setting.
Brandon Oldham, who is featured in the video, has been the student liaison between USF and Quesada Gardens for nearly three years. Earl Shaddix, also featured, is a Bayview resident and foodie who has been the creative force behind the development of a new line of products, jams and sauces from locally-harvested fruit, which service-learning students have been deeply involved with.
