The District 10 Wellness
Collaborative was launched over five years ago when then Supervisor
Sophie Maxwell allocated funding for chronic disease prevention in District 10.
Additional resources have been identified since then, but the original vision
has remained the same.
The main goal of the
collaborative is to provide fun, accessible, free and healthy activities for
District 10 residents.
The San Francisco Department of
Public Health has partnered with many organizations engaged in work around
healthy eating, physical activity, stress reduction, and health equity to fund
and coordinate these activities. Current partners include the Black Coalition on AIDS, Bayview YMCA, Potrero Hill
Health Center's Healing Project, and the
Potrero Hill public housing's Healthy Living program.
We are excited to see
more residents of District 10 moving and grooving, eating healthy,
getting acupuncture, and connecting with each other.
The D10 Wellness
Collaborative develops and distributes a monthly calendar in order to keep
residents in the loop about activities that are happening in their
neighborhoods. Keep your eye out for it right here in Footprints.
