Southeast Sector shows Pride

Supervisor Malia Cohen shows her Pride.
Dozens of Bayview Hunters Point residents marched in the 2013 Pride Parade on Sunday as part of the UTOPIA contingent, a group that has been part of the parade for over 30 years.  This year, UTOPIA joined with "Team Malia," the UTOPIA banner advanced a few steps before the D10 Supervisor Malia Cohen banner, and island-themed costuming took a decidedly "pink" turn.

Pink shirts with Malia's picture dotted the rainbow colored terrain of Market Street as D10 Supervisor Cohen cheered from the back of a convertible and Southeast Sector leaders marched nearby.

The weather for the Pride Parade and Festival at Civic Center was stellar.  So good in fact, you might have thought you were in Bayview.

UTOPIA is an association of LGBT Pacific Islander families and friends located in the Southeast Sector of San Francisco.  UTOPIA was established over 30 years ago, under the leadership of Neo Veavea, and has since sprouted chapters in Hawaii, Seattle and San Diego.
