Girls fly at Bayview's gardens

Local girls have been in the Quesada and Bridgeview Gardens for the past two weeks, working with professional dance choreographers and instructors, creating a unique performance they will present tomorrow.

On Saturday, July 13th at noon and 2pm, Flyaway Productions "GirlFly" program lifts-off with free performances that begin at Quesada and 3rd Streets, ending at the Bridgeview Garden at Newhall.

The new dance references the physical and social environment, and draws inspiration from a poem by Alejandro Murguia.  The 2-week program leading up to the dance has included lunchtime discussions with local change-makers including Joel and Mary McClure, Deborah Gerson, Vivian Richardson, Tracy Zhu, and Jazz Vassar.

The public is invited to see "Palm Trees Wave to the Sun" and courageous young dancers contributing to positive change in Bayview.

The dancers: Pearl Khuu, Grace Nevarez-Ortiz, Annabel Hope, Celeste Zuleta, Brianna Robert, Alasia Allah, and Lewana Kidane.  Choreographers: Jo Kreiter and Jennifer Chien.  Intern: Belgica Rodriguez.
