Bayview resident named SF poet laureate

Congratulations to Alejandro Murguia who Mayor Edwin Lee recently named the City's sixth poet laureate.

 

Murguia, a Bayview resident, has twice received the American Book Award (for "Southern Front" and "This War Called Love: Nine Stories.") He most recently published "Native Tongue."

 

Murguia is a professor of Latino studies at San Francisco State University, and a respected advocate and organizer.
