Sunday Streets 2012 in Bayview

Thanks to Bonnie Tomak and Mary McClure for thses photo contributions!

The City of San Francisco's Sunday Streets program brought much of the usual traffic on 3rd Street to a halt last Sunday from King Street to Palou Avenue as related events clustered along the corridor provided activities for all ages.

Great turnout! We saw lots of residents and visitors from around the Bay Area.

Hubs of activity along the Sunday Streets route included the Bayview Opera House and nearby public spaces.

The third annual Bayview-Dogpatch Music Festival, a joint venture with the Sunday Streets program, brought a variety of talent to the heart of Bayview.

"San Francisco's own open air, one-ring circus," Circus Bella, performed daring physical feats to an original score performed by live musicians.

A friendly rivalry between soulful chefs played out through the 3rd Street Corridor Program's Shrimp N Grits and Bar BQ cook-off and tasting contest. Last year's winner, Old Skool Café, turned the honor over to Auntie April's.

Congratulations to all the Sunday Streets organizers, volunteers and participants!
