SF Bay View Newspaper wins NAM award

"We are thrilled and grateful to New America Media," report the editors of the San Francisco Bay View Newspaper.

New America Media director Sandy Close announced that the Bay View Newspaper will received a new award, that NAM has created in honor of the late Chauncey Bailey, at the Ethnic Media Awards Gala on Thursday, July 19th.

The award will be presented "to Willie Ratcliff and the San Francisco Bay View for being the first and sometimes only voice challenging the official version of police shootings in their community,” Close said.

New America Media, which the Bay View Newspaper helped found in 1996, is the leading national advocate for 2,000 ethnic news organizations.

The event will be held at the KQED Studios at 2601 Mariposa Street from 5:30 to 8pm. Register for the event online.
