Dear Footprints,
Although your organization is to be commended on highlighting the progress in our community, I suggest that 4800 Third Street is an ugly, passe' jumble of architectural styles, poorly constructed above the street level concrete assembly, and will likely fail under heavy rain conditions and future climate impacts. The exposed HVAC grilles at the upper levels read as a cheap and under-designed add-on. Trim and details to the copper-esqe exterior tiles are poorly executed and out of alignment. The corner storefront is truncated by out of scale window assemblies, leaving little to entice the shopper, passerby, etc. We deserve much better in our neighborhood and must demand that architects of experience and merit be involved in future projects. This key location called for a landmark structure, well designed and rendered: the result today is a disaster.
After years of planning and input, significant pre-construction financing by SFRA, and on-going funding during construction for 'capacity building ', SFHDC has again FAILED to deliver in the Bayview. Affordable housing does not require that we house first time home-buyers or renters in new 'ghettos'.

Obviously, you didn't want anyone to know who you are but, that's ok. My name is Ed Donaldson, SFHDC's Counseling Director and i'm curious to here what efforts have you made on any community improvements being that you took the time to offer your critique of a sincere effort on our part? It's sound to me that you are one of the many enemies of the resident of BVHP that's not even qualified to have an opinion...Furthermore, when the new restuarant opens in the commercial storefront please don't bother to grace us with your presence....
