Latona Garden - Volunteer Work Party Saturday December 22nd

Say goodbye to fennel with the residents near the new Latona Garden. On Saturday December 22nd from 11am to 3pm, neighbors will be digging out the prolific plants in and around the garden at Latona and Thornton (just up from Third Street).

While the fennel growing wild all over the Bayview has a nice licorice scent, produces pretty flowers, and holds the earth in place - it's not a great food source. The fennel variety that took root here isn't the type you would find in the market, and is generally considered to be a weed.

The Latona Garden group decided to emphasize food production in the new community garden, and the fennel must go! Bring a shovel or just bring yourself to hang out with these amazing neighbors who are changing the world outside their front doors.
