In Memoriam

All weekend long, friends and concerned residents of the Bayview have been adding to the shrine for Antwanisha Morgan at the spot where she died Friday evening by gunfire on the interesection of Third and Quesada. "Nisha" was 17.

Nisha was volunteering her time helping kids do their homework at the youth services program at the Hunters Point Foundation. By all accounts she was an exceptional young woman who was college bound.

Quesada Gardens Initiative members join in offering our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Wanisha in this time of unimaginable loss and senseless tragedy.

When a tragedy like this happens in the Bayview, it ripples through the entire community. It was important to Shanika (below), a young resident on Quesada, to deliver flowers picked from the Quesada Garden to the memorial in honor of Nisha's life, and to remember her own brother who she lost to violence two years ago.

I would suggest more indigenous plants with less maintenance.
